Are you a Christian? No...Really?

Matt Richards

Luke 6:46 So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

You know as we looked at yesterday talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words.

Jesus said if anyone loves me he will keep my Word. Repentence puts arms and legs on words and is more than just regret. It follows through. Jesus calls it out here and He calls it out with you and me too.

Am I, are you a Christian? A Christian follower or am I just wanting Jesus to improve my life?

Many people wanting Jesus as their Saviour. That is to have their sins forgiven them. Who wouldn't?

But here's the thing not many wanting Jesus as their Lord.

That is their master, their boss, their king, their owner. The One that calls the shots.

I think this could be one of the biggest problems of modern day church/evangelism at the moment. It's a cheap Christianity. One we just don't see in the bible.

We present Jesus as the answer to our sin and as Saviour: but not our Lord.

You see when we accept and turn to Jesus as Lord we are also having Him as Saviour. But the difference here is profound.

It's no longer I that live, but Christ. He is no longer a passenger in the car, my ticket to heaven, or keeping me company just in case I need Him. He is driving the car. In control.

Jesus wants to be Lord. He wants the control. He wants the ownership. He wants me to bow my knee to His will.

There are no part-time Christians. The time for playing church is over.

If Jesus isn't Lord of all: He's not Lord at all.

But hear me, this is the grace part. God in His Grace and mercy will touch your life, forgive your sin and bless you. But ultimately He will usher you to a place of surrender.

Where you give up control. You give up the ruling of your own life and you get in the back seat and let Him drive. You make Him King Jesus. You make Him Lord of all and do what He says. That is always the plan, always the goal. You might as well surrender now.

Have you made Jesus Lord? Or are you still just doing what you want?

Make Jesus Lord and build a lasting foundation in your life today.

Prayer:

Father I give up doing things my way. Forgive me for my stubbornness and control. I submit to Your Lordship in my life. Take over, be my boss. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in me today. I totally surrender in Jesus' name amen.
