Romans 12:9 "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good."
Another super simple scripture that has the power to change your ENTIRE life.
It's almost self explanatory, but I'm going to expand it a little bit.
If you say you love God, but you don't love what He loves and hate what He hates, you are a hypocrite.
You can't love God and love sex, drugs, and rock and roll at the same time. Sorry! Scripture tells us that to be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God. It's quite serious.
Similarly, you can't love God and hate people at the same time.
I've definitely seen it in church, when people seem really spiritual and always want to look like they love God, but getting to know them, they can be SO mean, and rude, and bitter towards fellow Christians—even to their own family.
Who are you behind closed doors? Are you nasty to those nearest and dearest? Or do you love, honour and cherish the people God has put in your life?
God desires that we should show mercy, not just offer sacrifices.
I think the keys to christianity can be boiled down to a few simple truths.
Love God, hate Sin, and love people is one of them.
Prayer:
Lord, I love You. Please search my heart. I know that to love You means to also love what You love and hate what You hate. Please cause me to have a clean heart and a right spirit. I want to love my neighbour and I want to love God. In Jesus' name Amen.
