Isaiah 38:2-6 "In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.”
What I love about this story is that nothing is beyond repair! Even a devastating sentence of death can be revoked through prayer. In fact even after Isaiah the prophet had a word from God that Hezekiah was going to die, through prayer (and tears), the situation miraculously changed!
Perhaps you're facing challenges today that seem impossible to overcome. You need to know that you have a God in heaven who can change anything. Nothing is permanent and nothing is impossible with God.
But looking at the bigger picture, perhaps the church, worldwide is in this same place as Hezekiah. Political turmoil, pandemics, churches closing, unrest and conflict on all sides... and if it's time for the curtains to close and the end to come then so be it...let's all get raptured and call it a day...
But I think it would be better to see an end times harvest and for the church to go out with a bang...and I think that's the will of God too...there are souls to be saved and nations to be revived yet!
But we have to turn our face to the wall so to speak and cry out to God for the church and for the nations...
Maybe God will give us more time for our families and loved ones, and neighbourhoods and cities to be saved.
After all, for jesus to come back, the Gospel of peace must be preached to all the ends of the earth...so there must be more time.
Food for thought...and maybe fuel for prayer.
Prayer:
Father we cry out to You today for our country, and the nations of the earth. It truly is an emergency! We need You!
Let revival come, let the church arise once more and be full of strength and power for this end times harvest. In Jesus Name, Amen!
