Matt Richards
Colossians 4:17 And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it".
You have purpose.
You have a job to do. I remember a chorus in the 80s entitled "I wanna serve the purpose of God in my generation".
It's easy to get distracted and do loads of stuff we weren't called to do. Sometimes we have to stop and refocus. What's it all about? What am I supposed to be doing?
You know many companies/businesses including the NHS have times of reflection asking "are we fit for purpose"?
In other words are we doing what we are being paid to do. Are we delivering what we are meant to deliver? Or have we gone off course somewhere?
Many times these organisations have to look at and return to the original vision.
Oh that we would spend time looking at our purpose. Returning to the original vision.
What are you called to do?
What is the 'church' called to do?
Here's an original 'purpose' from Matthew 10:8 in the Bible.
'Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.'
Sometimes it's that simple. Why complicate it?
Get to the point.
'Live life in purpose, on purpose and with purpose.' (MR)
Prayer:
Forgive me Father for sometimes being really busy, but missing the things You have called me to. Help me to know my assignment, do it really well and fulfil the purpose of God in my generation in Jesus' Name, Amen.
